Firmness and Feel

When you are looking for the right mattress, firmness and feel are only a few of the essential elements. How firm is the Saatva Classic on your body? Does it have enough strength to support you if you sleep in different positions? Are you finding it too rigid for your liking? We tested the mattress for ourselves to discover what we could find!

How Firm is the Saatva Classic?

The Saatva Classic has three varying firmnesses: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm. What is the best choice for you will depend on personal experience and circumstances. If you’re looking to learn more about it from the inside, we’ve put each 3 Saatva Classic versions to the test to determine how they perform on our scale of firmness, that ranges from 1-10.

We started our test with our Plush Soft mattress, which we’ve ranked 3 out of 10. One thing we’ve noticed right from the start is that it feels so comfy sleeping sideways facing the pillow top. We felt like we were getting in the body of the Saatva Classic thanks to its soft foundation when compared to other ones. However, this more flexible feel may not translate well for those who sleep flat – either on the stomach or the back. Saatva Amid Bed

Then, we’ll have the Firm variant that is a stark contrast to the Plus Soft in terms of the materials used and the rigidity. We barely felt our bodies sink into the mattress. The model certainly does live up to its name! It is particularly beneficial for those who sleep flat on their stomachs or backs since it provides more apparent support. Some people may have issues regarding sleeping on their sides. Yet, despite this we rate this item an 8 out of 10.

In the case of the Luxury Firm version one of the initial things we noticed was how soft the mattress felt on the top of the pillow. The coils, meanwhile, which hold the mattress together are more firm, which makes this version of Saatva mixed in terms of design. As we lay on our backs and slept, we not only have the proper amount of sinking as well as the support that we needed. It’s the same with sleeping on the stomach, but what about side sleeping? Based on different personal experiences, it can be hit-or-miss. On that note we rate this Luxury Firm mattress an 6.5 out of 10 firmness scale.

Testing with varying body weights

In addition to the test for firmness, we’ve also experimented with how different body weights react when sleeping on three different versions of Saatva Classic. The first is the Plush Soft mattress. Made out of the less durable coil foundation and an even soft pillow top is no wonder that it’s been popular with light weights. Average-weighing folks between 130 to 200 pounds may appreciate the body-hugging and sinking feeling of this Plush Soft, but heavyweights might have an issue. Saatva Amid Bed

The firm mattress might be too rigid for those that weigh under 175 pounds, but when you weigh a lot more than that, this mattress is most likely the better choice. With a sturdier foundation throughout, the Firm variant offers much more reliable support when sleeping on the stomach or back, especially among heavyweights. People who weigh less could find lying on their bed somewhat uncomfortable, as there is not enough soft foam surface to ease this.

For this Luxury Firm mattress the majority of its attributes are sufficient to accommodate a variety of body weights. If you’re someone who weighs 130 lbs or 250 pounds, you’ll find a sense of ease and comfort while lying flat on the back with this kind of mattress. Stomach sleepers might like the same, however it may require extra support for heavier folks. For side sleepers, it’s generally good for all body weights, but it’s somewhat unpredictable.

Performance

How does do the Saatva Classic fare in terms of performance? From motion transfer to durability and even how it behaves during intimacy, we delved deeper to determine its performance levels. These these are our findings!

Motion Isolation and Transfer

The Saatva was lackluster in motion isolation compared to other hybrid mattresses. The foam that is built into is only half an inch, however the mattress still manages to absorb a significant degree of motion due to its state-of-the-art fiber fill. The two more firm choices may not do well in isolating the motion. However, the Plush Soft variant, however, fares a little better in comparison.

In a marriage, and you’re looking forward to a mattress where one of you moves , and you don’t have to be able to tell, it’s possible that the Saatva Classic may not be the ideal. As we tried it for motion transfers and we noticed that one of our team slowly got distracted as soon as the other member began moving – from minor to medium and finally high-intensity. Mattresses made of innersprings have been known for their poor absorption of motion and the Saatva is composed of innerspring elements. It could be a bad mattress choice for you, particularly when you’re a light sleeper who’s often disturbed.

Pressure Relief

Pressure relief refers to the mattress’s ability to reduce the pressure that is felt by the body’s pressure points. We determined the Saatva’s pressure relief levels by placing a pressure map on the surface. When we have the results, it’s revealed that the mattress, in three different firmnesses, provides stellar pressure relief at the back. As for the hip and shoulder points, this can vary depending on a range of factors, such as firmness level the individual’s situation, as well as weight. Saatva Amid Bed

Temperature Control

Its Saatva Classic mattress may be plenty of things, but we couldn’t say that it’s one of the top ones that has incredible cooling capabilities. The mattress has two layers of spring coil. One of these is wrapped in a pocket. This structural frame allows enough air to circulate throughout the mattress, ultimately cooling those who normally rest hot. The Saatva Classic is not only in a position to reduce temperatures however, the pillow’s cover is made of organic cotton, making it Saatva Classic more breathable than other hybrid mattresses made of memory foam. It is a great cooling mattress for anyone living in near-tropical conditions, and for couples who, when they sleep together, heat the bed more quickly than one person could.

Edge Support

Edge support refers to how strong the edges of the mattress support. For Saatva Classic, the edge support is extremely strong. Saatva Classic, the edges are incredibly strong. In our tests, we found that they were remarkably sturdy enough to allow individuals to lie on their edges without worrying much about sagging, sinkage, and falling off the mattress. This is because of an encasement of foam that is secured around the coil layers inside the mattress. The sturdiness may vary depending on the firmness levels and the firmness of Saatva. Couples, for example, will not feel too much sinking on either the Firm or Luxury Firm options but may feel a certain degree of discomfort at the edges of the Plush Soft. Also, those who are heavier might feel more sinkage than the lightweight ones.

Sex

If you and your partner have a sexually active relationship It is essential to choose the right mattress that responds with ease when sharing intimate moments. Here’s the place where Saatva Classic comes in, with a solid combination of both flexibility and responsiveness, which makes it suitable for a range of sexual actions. The top of the pillow conforms to bodies when they are in contact with the surface, and the innerspring foundation allows the bed to be bouncy enough to allow for movements, but not too loud for the annoying squeaking sound. The firm edge support allows the couples to take full enjoyment of the entire area of Saatva. Although this Plush Soft comfort level may provide a little traction for sex but it did not feel as comfortable in comparison to its more robust counterparts.

Off-gassing

Saatva Classic Saatva Classic is made out of synthetic foam. But what sets it apart from others is how it doesn’t occupy a large portion part of the mattress. This means that it doesn’t smell as unpleasant upon delivery and purchase. We received our Saatva mattresses to test We noticed that, instead of the usual cardboard box the delivery staff arrived to set the mattress for us. We also examined whether it emits less of the typical “fresh mattress smell” as compared to other mattresses, which went away quite quickly – this may be due to the way it was constructed. Ease of Movement

Saatva Saatva has been found to have a greater ease of movement compared to other hybrid mattresses, due to the unique polyfoam/innerspring combination used as its structural foundation. The mattress is bonded to the body of the user when they lay down on the ground however it regains its original shape quickly when they get off of the bed. To contrast, mattresses that have the top of memory foam are shaped to fit the body as typical, but the sensation of being ‘trapped in a comfortable environment is stronger which makes it difficult for the user to remove themselves.

Noise

The innerspring beds have received an unpopular image over the years for making annoying sounds that get worse upon continuous use. The Saatva Classic, on the other hand, does not fit into this category. As we mentioned before, the mattress’s core is the encasement of foam wrapped around the coil systems. Not only does it provide solid support along the edges, but it also reduces the sound that coils normally make. We tried shifting positions and moving around the bed, we noticed how less noise and squeaking generated. However, as that the Saatva mattress is supported by coils, it isn’t likely to have the noise-free features to last long.

Durability

Now that we managed to try out all the tests of performance on Saatva Classic, we can conclude that it is a great mattress. Saatva Classic mattress, the most important thing to ask are these questions: “How durable is the Saatva? How long will it be able to last?” Considering the high-grade quality of the material and structure and the way it performs when it comes to relief, comfort, and motion and comfort, the Saatva will be durable enough to last up to approximately 7-10 years.

Materials

The Saatva Classic is composed of at the very least four layers, each with unique abilities. However, when they’re taken together, they make solid, durable, bouncy, and overall reliable hybrid mattress that can be used to serve any purpose. Let’s look at the different elements and components that compose the Saatva bed.

Layer 1: A Soft and Breathable Surface

The first layer is an inch-thick Euro pillow top that serves as the mattress’s sleeping surface. It’s made up of a mix of polyfoam, fiberfill, and Dacron to create a soft and comfortable surface to lay on. In both Plush Soft and Luxury Firm versions, a 1.25-inch layer of soft polyfoam has been used for the soft option, while the Firm option utilizes 1.5″ worth firm polyfoam.

It is then quilted using a specially-made Lumbar Zone Quilting pattern to offer much-needed relief from pressure on the hips and back. Organic cotton is used to protect the pillow’s surface. Not only is it breathable and soft, but it also has plenty of antibacterial properties.

Layer 2: A Blend of Foam for Lumbar Support with Enhanced

Across all three firmness levels An inch-thick support foam is placed under the first layer to provide a superior lumbar support system. This special foam is composed of: more than half of the foam is made of polyfoam, while the remaining part is made out of memory foam. It is strategically placed along the center of the mattress, which allows the back to be more aligned without creating any discomfort. Saatva Amid Bed

It also allows for breezy air circulation, keeping the sleeper cooled and away from becoming too hot.

Layer 4: The Sturdy Foundation Core

The underlying structure of all three layers is a solid foundation made of steel hourglass coils that are underneath them. Customers have the option of choosing between two different heights of a 4-inch layer to fit mattresses that measure 11.5″ or 7-inch layers for 14.5″ beds.
