How Firm is the Saatva Classic?
The Saatva Classic has three varying degrees of firmness: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm and Firm. The answer to this question depends on personal experience and conditions. However, if you’d like to learn more about it from the inside, we’ve put each one of three Saatva Classic versions to the test to see how it fares on our firmness scale, which ranges from 1 to 10.
We started the experiment off with the Plush Soft mattress, which we’ve rated 3 out of 10. The one thing that we’ve observed right off the beginning is how it was extremely comfortable sleeping sideways facing the pillow the top. We felt like we were closer to getting the body hug by this model that’s the Saatva Classic thanks to its more supple foundation than other models. But, the more flexible feeling might not work for those who lie flat, either on their stomachs or their back. Saatva Logo
Next up, we have the Firm version, which is a stark contrast to the Plus Soft in terms of the materials used and the rigidity. We could barely feel our bodies sinking into the mattress – the variant certainly lives up to its name! This is especially great for sleepers who lie flat on their stomachs or backs since it provides more apparent support. Certain people might have problems with sleeping on their sides. However we rate this product an excellent 8 out of 10.
When it came to the Premium Firm version One of the first things we noticed was how soft it felt on the top of the pillow. The coils which keep the mattress in place are more firm, making this variant of the Saatva different in terms of design. As we lay down flat on our backs, not only did we get the right amount of sinking, but also the support that we required. Similar results could be achieved when sleeping on your stomach, but what about side sleeping? Based on different experience of each person’s, the situation can be hit-or-miss. On that note we rate this Luxury Firm mattress an 6.5 out of 10 scale of firmness.
Testing using a variety of body weights
Apart from the test of firmness, we’ve also experimented with how different body weights react when sleeping on three variations of the Saatva Classic. The first is the Plush Soft mattress. Made from a less sturdy coil foundation and an even soft pillow top It’s not surprising that it’s been favored among lightweights. People who weigh 130 to 200 pounds might appreciate the body hugging and sinking sensation from the Plush Soft, but heavyweights may find these to be an issue. Saatva Logo
The Firm mattress may be too stiff for those with a weight of less than 175lbs, but when you weigh way more than that, this mattress is most likely the better option. With a sturdier foundation throughout, the Firm variant offers much more reliable support when it comes to sleeping on the side or on the back specifically among heavyweights. People who weigh less may find lying on the bed a bit uncomfortable, with the mattress not having enough soft foam to alleviate this.

For this Luxury Firm mattress most of its features are adequate to cover a wide range of weight a person can carry. If you’re either someone who weighs 130 lbs or 250 pounds, you’ll experience a sense relief and relaxation sleeping flat on the back on this kind of mattress. Stomach sleepers can benefit from too, but it may require extra support for those who weigh more. For side sleepers it’s usually suitable for most body weights, but it’s somewhat of a gamble.
Performance
What is the way that do the Saatva Classic fare in terms of performance? From motion transfer to durability and even how it performs in private moments. We dug further into the depths to test its performance levels. Here is the result!
Motion Isolation and Transfer
The Saatva was lackluster in motion isolation compared against other hybrid mattresses. The foam layer built within is only one-half inch, yet the mattress is still able to absorb a significant degree of motion due to its high-tech fiber fill. Two of the more firm options might not be effective in separating movements. The Plush Soft variant, however is a bit better in comparison.
If you’re in a romantic relationship, and you’re looking forward to a mattress where one of you moves and the other would not be able to tell then it’s possible that the Saatva Classic may not be the best. We tested it for motion transfers and we noticed that one of our team members slowly lost focus as the other member began doing movements, ranging from minimal to medium and finally high-intensity. Mattresses made of innersprings have been known for having poor motion absorption and the Saatva happens to be composed of innerspring components. It could be a poor choice for a mattress, especially when you’re a light sleeper who is often disturbed.
Pressure Relief
Pressure relief refers to the mattress’s capacity to ease out the tension felt at the body’s pressure points. We evaluated the Saatva’s pressure relief levels by drawing the map of pressure on its surface. When we have the results, it’s shown that the mattress, in three different firmnesses, provides stellar pressure relief at the back. For hip and shoulder areas, this can vary depending on several factors, such as firmness level, personal circumstance, and weight. Saatva Logo

Temperature Control
Its Saatva Classic mattress may be plenty of things, but we can’t say that it’s one of the most comfortable with stunning cooling abilities. The mattress has two layers of spring coil, and one of them is wrapped in a pocket. This structural frame allows enough air to circulate through the mattress, ultimately cooling those who normally are hot to sleep on. Not only is it in a position to reduce temperatures however, the pillow’s cover is made of organic cotton, which makes Saatva Classic Saatva Classic more breathable than other hybrid mattresses made of memory foam. It is a great cooling mattress for those who live in near-tropical conditions, and for couples that, if they share a bed, can are able to heat the bed faster than a single person.
Edge Support
Edge support refers to how strong edge support is the way that the mattresses’ edges support. For the Saatva Classic, the edges remain in great shape. In our tests, we found that they were noticeably robust enough to permit people to rest near the edges without having to worry much about sagging, sinkage or falling off the bed. This is because of a foam encasement that’s placed around the coils inside the mattress. The durability can differ based on the firmness levels that are present in the Saatva. Couples, for example, will not feel too much sagging when they choose between those with the Firm or Luxe Firm alternatives, however they may be able to feel a little discomfort along the edges with the Plush Soft. Also, those who are heavier will feel more sinkage than the lighter ones.
Sex
If you and your partner are both sexually active, it’s crucial to find the right mattress that responds with ease when having intimate moments. That’s where Saatva Classic comes in, with a solid combination of both responsiveness and friction making fully optimized for a wide range of sexual activities. The top of the pillow conforms to bodies when they are in proximity to its surface and the innerspring foundation allows the bed to be buoyant enough to allow for movements however not so loud as for the annoying noise of squeaking. The firm edge support allows the couples to take full enjoyment of the entire surface of the Saatva. Although this Plush Soft comfort level may provide a little traction for sex, it felt quite lacking in comparison to its more robust counterparts.
Off-gassing
Saatva Classic Saatva Classic is made out of synthetic foam. However, the thing that sets it apart from other mattresses is the fact that it doesn’t take up a lot part of the mattress. This means it won’t smell as bad after delivery and purchase. As we were receiving the Saatva mattresses to test we noticed that instead of the standard cardboard box people from the delivery company came in to set the mattress for us. We also inspected whether it emits less of the usual “new mattress” smell in comparison to similar mattresses that went away quickly. It could be due to how it was built. Saatva Logo
Mobility
Saatva Saatva has been shown to have a greater ease of movement when compared to other hybrid mattresses, thanks to the intriguingly unique combination of innersprings and polyfoam that is employed as the foundation for its structure. The mattress is bonded with the shape of the user when they lay down on the surface, but regains its original shape quickly as soon as they leave the bed. For comparison, mattresses with an upper layer of memory foam will conform to the body per typical, but the sensation of being ‘trapped in comfort is stronger which makes it difficult for the user to remove themselves.

Noise
Innerspring beds have made some bad rap over the years due to their annoying noises, which gradually get worse upon continuous use. Its Saatva Classic, on the other hand, doesn’t fully fit into this category. We’ve already mentioned that the mattress’s structure is the encasement of foam wrapped around the coil systems. This not only offers solid support along the edges, but also blocks out the sounds that coils typically create. As we experimented with changing positions and moving around on the bed, we were amazed by how less noise and squeaking were produced. But since the Saatva mattress has coils supporting it, it isn’t likely to have the noise-free features to last long.
Durability
After we’ve had the chance to try out all the tests of performance for the Saatva Classic mattress, the most important thing to ask are these questions: “How durable is the Saatva? What is the length of time it will be able to last?” Considering the high-grade quality of the materials and the structure and how well it performs in regards to comfort, relief and motion and comfort, the Saatva will be durable enough to last up to approximately 7-10 years.
Materials
The Saatva Classic is composed of at the very least four layers each of which has distinctive capabilities. When they are put together, they form a strong, durable as well as bouncy and sturdy hybrid mattress that is suitable for any purpose. Let’s have a closer review of the various layers and materials that compose the Saatva mattress.

It also allows for breezy air circulation, which keeps the sleeper cooled and away from getting too hot.
4. The Sturdy Foundation Core
Each layer is held by a foundation of durable steel hourglass coils that are underneath them.
