How firm is the Saatva Classic?

The Saatva Classic has three varying firmnesses: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm and Firm. The answer to this question will depend on your personal experience and the specific circumstances. However, if you’d like to learn more about it from the inside we’ve put each one of three Saatva Classic versions to the test to determine how they perform on our firmness scale, that ranges from 1-10.

We started the experiment off using The Plush Soft mattress, which we’ve rated as 3/10. What we’ve seen straight off the bat is how it felt so comfortable while sleeping on its side, with the pillow on the top. We felt as if we were getting in the body that’s Saatva Classic. Saatva Classic thanks to its soft foundation when compared to other foundations. But, the more flexible feel might not be a good fit with people who often sleep flat – either on their stomachs or their back. Saatva Mattress With Box Spring

Next , we’ve got the Firm version which is a striking difference to Plus Soft in terms of the materials used and the rigidity. It was hard to feel our bodies sinking into the mattress. The model certainly lives up to its name! It is particularly beneficial for people who sleep on their backs or stomach because it provides more visible support. Some people may have issues when it comes to sleeping on the side. Yet, despite this, we give this rating an excellent 8 out of 10.

When it came to this Luxury Firm version One of the first few things we observed was how soft it felt on the top of the pillow. The coils, meanwhile, which hold the mattress together are firmer, making this particular version of Saatva mixed in terms of construction. As we lay flat on our backs We not only receive the correct amount of sinking as well as the support that we needed. It’s the same with sleeping on the stomach, but how about side sleeping? Depending on the different individual experiences of the person, this can be a bit of a hit or miss. In that regard we rate the Luxury Firm mattress a 6.5 out of 10 range of firmness.

Testing using a variety of body weights

Apart from the test of firmness We’ve also analyzed the way different body weights react sleeping on three different versions of Saatva Classic. The first is our Plush Soft mattress. Made from the less durable coil base and a softer pillow top It’s not surprising that it’s a favorite among light-weights. People who weigh between 130 and 200 lbs may like the body hugging and sinking feel of Plush Soft. Plush Soft, but heavyweights might have an issue. Saatva Mattress With Box Spring

The firm mattress might be too stiff for people that weigh under 175lbs, but when you weigh more than that, this mattress is likely to be the best option. With a more solid foundation all over, the Firm variant offers much more reliable support when sleeping on the side or on the back particularly for those who weigh a lot. For those who weigh less, they might find sleeping on the bed to be somewhat uncomfortable, as there is the mattress not having enough soft foam to alleviate this.

In the case of the Luxury Firm mattress the majority of its attributes are sufficient to cater to a broad range of weight a person can carry. If you’re someone who weighs 130 lbs (or 250lbs), you will experience a sense peace and ease while sleeping on the back with this type of mattress. Stomach sleepers may enjoy the same, however it may require extra support for heavier folks. When it comes to side sleeping, it’s generally good for most body weights but it’s somewhat of a gamble.

Performance

How does the Saatva Classic fare in terms of performance? From motion transfers to durability and even how it behaves during intimacy, we delved deeper to determine its performance levels. These is the result!

Motion Isolation and Transfer

The Saatva did not stand out in terms of motion isolation when in comparison against other hybrid mattresses. The foam layer that makes up the mattress is thinner by only one-half inch, yet the mattress still manages to absorb a substantial amount of movement thanks to its state-of-the-art fiber fill. Two of the more firm options might not be able to isolate movements. Its Plush Soft variant, however, fares a little better in comparison.

If you’re in a relationship, and you’re looking towards a mattress that one of you moves and the other would not be able to tell, it’s possible that the Saatva Classic may not be the ideal. When we tested it out for motion transfers, we saw how one of our group members gradually lost focus as the other person started making movements – from minor to medium and finally high-intensity. Innerspring mattresses have been notorious for their poor absorption of motion and the Saatva is made up of innerspring components. It could be a poor choice for a mattress, especially if you’re a light sleeper who’s often disturbed.

Pressure Relief

Pressure relief refers to the mattress’s ability to ease out the tension experienced by the body’s tension points. We evaluated the Saatva’s pressure relief levels by laying out the map of pressure on its surface. When we have the results, it has been discovered that the mattress in three different firmnesses, offers excellent pressure relief at the back. In terms of hip and shoulder areas the relief can differ based on several factors including the level of firmness as well as personal circumstances and weight. Saatva Mattress With Box Spring

Temperature Control

The Saatva Classic mattress may be plenty of things, but we couldn’t say that it’s one of the top ones that has incredible cooling capabilities. The mattress is made up of two layers of the spring coil. One of these is pocketed. The structure allows air to flow throughout the mattress, eventually cooling those who normally sleep hot. The Saatva Classic is not only able to cool down temperatures and keep them cool, but the top of the pillow’s cover is made of organic cotton, making it Saatva Classic more breathable than other hybrid beds made with memory foam. This is an ideal cooling mattress for those who live in tropical conditions and for couples that, if they are sleeping together, will heat the bed more quickly than just one person can.

Edge Support

Edge support is the measure of the strength of the edges of the mattress stand up to. In the case of the Saatva Classic, the edges are incredibly strong. In our tests, we found that they’re solid enough to allow people to lie on their edges without having to worry much about sagging, sinkage, and falling off the mattress. This is caused by an encasement of foam that is wrapped around the coil layers within the mattress. The sturdiness may vary depending on the level of firmness and the firmness of Saatva. Couples like this will not feel too much sinking on the Firm and Luxury Firm options but may be able to feel a little discomfort along the edges with Plush Soft. Plush Soft. Also heavier people will experience more sinkage than lightweight ones.

Sex

If you and your partner have a sexually active relationship, it’s crucial to find an appropriate mattress that will respond effectively when having intimate moments. This is where the Saatva Classic comes in, offering a great combination of flexibility and responsiveness, which makes it suitable for a range of sexual activities. The pillow top conforms to bodies when they are in to the bed’s surface, while the innerspring base causes the mattress to bounce enough to allow for movement but not loud enough to create the irritating sounds of squeaking. The strong edge support allows couples to take enjoyment of the entire surface of the Saatva. While it’s Plush Soft comfort level may provide a little sexual traction, it felt quite lacking in comparison to its more robust counterparts.

Off-gassing

Saatva Classic Saatva Classic is made out of synthetic foam. However, what makes it stand out from others is how it doesn’t take up much of the mattress. This means that it doesn’t smell as unpleasant upon delivery and purchase. We received our Saatva mattresses for testing We noticed that, instead of the standard cardboard box people from the delivery company arrived to set up the bed for us. We also examined whether it emits less of the typical ‘new mattress smell’ in comparison to similar mattresses and it went away quickly – this may be due to the way it was constructed. Ease of Movement

The Saatva has been proven to have better ease of movement compared to other hybrid mattresses, due to the interestingly unique polyfoam/innerspring combination employed as the foundation for its structure. The bed is fixed with the shape of the person once they lie down on the ground however it regains its original shape quickly when they get off of the bed. To contrast, mattresses that have an upper layer of memory foam will are shaped to fit the body as usual, but the feeling of being trapped in comfort’ is more prominent which makes it difficult for the person to get out.

Noise

The innerspring beds have received an unpopular image over the years for their irritating sounds that get worse with each use. Its Saatva Classic, on the contrary, doesn’t meet the criteria of this. As we’ve mentioned earlier, the mattress’s structure is an encasement of foam that’s placed around the coils. It not only provides solid support at the edges, it also reduces the sound that coils normally make. As we experimented with changing places and moving around the bed, we noticed how there was less noise, squeak and buzz were produced. However, as that the Saatva mattress rests on coils it isn’t likely to have the noise-free features to last long.

Durability

We’ve managed to try out all the performance tests with Saatva Classic, we can conclude that it is a great mattress. Saatva Classic mattress, the only thing we have to think about is these questions: “How durable is the Saatva? What is the length of time it will be able for to stand the test of time?” Considering the high-grade quality of the materials and structure and how well it performs in regards to comfort, relief and motion as well, the Saatva is expected to be sturdy enough to last up to about 7-10 years.

Materials

The Saatva Classic is composed of at least four layers, each having unique abilities. When they are combined, they create an extremely durable, strong and bouncy sturdy hybrid mattress which can be used for any use. Let’s have a closer look at all the elements and components that comprise the Saatva mattress.

Layer 1 The Soft and Breathable Surface

The initial layer is an inch-thick Euro pillow top used to serve as the bed’s sleep surface. It’s made up of a mix of fiberfill, polyfoam and Dacron to provide a soft and comfortable surface to lay on. In both Plush Soft and Luxury Firm versions it’s a 1.25-inch thick layer of polyfoam soft is utilized for the soft option, while the Firm option makes use of 1.5″ worth of polyfoam that is firm.

This top quilt is made with an exclusive Lumbar Zone Quilting pattern to provide the needed pressure relief on the back and hips. Organic cotton material is used to protect the pillow’s surface. Not only is it breathable and soft, but it also has a lot of antibacterial qualities.

Layer 2: A Combination Foam for Enhanced Lumbar Support

In all three levels of firmness, an inch-thick support foam is placed under the first layer to create a much better support system for the lumbar spine. This special foam is composed of: more than half of the foam is made of polyfoam, while the rest is composed from memory foam. It is placed strategically along the middle of the mattress. This allows that the spine to more align without creating any kind of discomfort that might arise. Saatva Mattress With Box Spring

The 4-inch-thick, individually wrapped micro coils made of foam is flexible enough to conform to different body shapes and movements that change constantly. It also allows for breezy air circulation, keeping the sleeper cooled and away from becoming too hot.

Layer 4: The Sturdy Foundation Core

The underlying structure of all three layers is a solid foundation made of steel hourglass coils that are underneath them. Customers have the option of choosing between two sizes: a 4-inch layer for mattresses that measure 11.5″ or a 7-inch layer for 14.5″ mattresses. These core coils aid the foam-pocketed coils in producing an enhanced airflow system throughout the Saatva as well as the quality components are strong enough to handle heavier persons and objects.
