How firm Is the Saatva Classic?
The Saatva Classic has three varying firmnesses: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm and Firm. The answer to this question depends on the individual’s experience and personal conditions. But if you want to get firsthand information about the issue, we’ve put each of the three Saatva Classic versions to the test to determine how they perform on our scale of firmness, that ranges from 1-10.
We started the experiment off with The Plush Soft mattress, which we’ve ranked 3 out of 10. One thing we’ve noticed straight off the bat is how it feels so comfy lying on the side with the pillow at its the top. We felt like we were more likely to be in the body that’s the Saatva Classic thanks to its softer foundation compared with other foundations. However, this more flexible feel may not translate well for those who sleep flat – either on their stomachs or on their back. Saatva Santorini Review
Then, we’ll have the Firm version that is a stark difference to Plus Soft in terms of material and stiffness. We could barely feel our bodies sinking into the mattress – the variant certainly lives up to its name! This is especially great for those who sleep flat on their stomachs or backs, as it offers much more visible support. Some people may have issues regarding sleeping on the side. However, we give this rating an excellent 8 out of 10.
When it came to this Luxury Firm version one of the initial few things we noticed was how soft it was on the top of the pillow. The coils, meanwhile, which hold the mattress together are more firm, which makes this variant of the Saatva one that is mixed in construction. In this case, as we lay on our backs, not only did we receive the correct amount of sinking as well as the support that we needed. Similar results could be achieved for sleeping on the stomach, but for side sleeping? Depending on the different personal experiences, it can be unpredictable. In that regard we rate this Luxury Firm mattress a 6.5 out of 10 firmness scale.
Testing with Varying Body Weights
In addition to the test for firmness, we’ve also experimented with the way different body weights react when sleeping on three different versions of the Saatva Classic. The first is the Plush Soft mattress. It is made of the less durable coil foundation , and a soft pillow top, it’s no wonder why it’s been popular with light weights. People who weigh 130 to 200 lbs may like the body-hugging and sinking feeling from this Plush Soft, but heavyweights might have an issue. Saatva Santorini Review
The Firm mattress may be too stiff for those who weigh less than 175 pounds, but in the case of those way more than that, this mattress is probably the more suitable choice. With a sturdier foundation throughout the mattress, the Firm model offers much more solid support when it comes to sleeping on your belly or the back specifically with heavyweights. For those who weigh less, they could find lying on their bed somewhat uncomfortable, as there is not enough soft foam surface to ease this.

In the case of the Luxury Firm mattress, the majority of its attributes are sufficient to accommodate a variety in bodyweights. If you’re someone who weighs 130 lbs (or 250lbs), you will experience a sense ease and comfort while lying flat on the back on this kind of mattress. Stomach sleepers might like this as well, although it could require more support for heavier folks. When it comes to side sleeping it’s usually suitable for most body weights but it’s a bit of a hit-or-miss.
Performance
How does do the Saatva Classic fare in terms of performance? From motion transfers to durability and even to how it performs in private moments. We dug further into the depths to test its performance levels. Here are the results!
Motion Isolation and Transfer
The Saatva did not stand out in its motion isolation, as compared with other hybrid mattress. The foam layer that makes up the mattress is thinner by only half an inch, but the mattress still manages to absorb an impressive amount of motion due to its ultra-modern fiber fill. Two of the more firm options might not be able to isolate the motion. The Plush Soft variant, however is a bit better when compared to.
If you’re in a romantic relationship, and you’re looking towards a mattress that one of you moves , and the other would not even notice it’s possible that it’s possible that the Saatva Classic may not be the most suitable. When we tested it out for motion transfers We noticed how one of our group members gradually became distracted when the other person started moving – from minor to moderate , and then high-intensity. Innerspring mattresses have been notorious for their poor absorption of motion, and the Saatva is made up of innerspring parts. It could be a bad mattress choice, especially for those who sleep lightly who’s often disturbed.
Pressure Relief
Pressure relief refers to the mattress’s capacity to relieve tension felt at the body’s pressure points. We evaluated the Saatva’s pressure relief levels by drawing an image of pressure on the surface. When we have the results, it’s been discovered that the mattress in three different levels of firmness provides stellar pressure relief at the back. For hip and shoulder points the relief can differ based on a variety of variables, such as firmness level as well as personal circumstances and weight. Saatva Santorini Review

Temperature Control
Its Saatva Classic mattress may be many things, but we couldn’t say that it’s one of the top ones with stunning cooling abilities. The mattress has two layers of spring coil, one of which is pockets. The structural frame permits air to circulate throughout the mattress, eventually cooling those who normally rest hot. The Saatva Classic is not only in a position to reduce temperatures and keep them cool, but the top of the pillow’s cover is made of organic cotton, which makes the Saatva Classic more breathable than other hybrid beds made with memory foam. This is an ideal cooling mattress for those who live in a tropical climate, or for couples who, if they share a bed, can are able to heat the bed faster than just one person can.
Edge Support
Edge support is a measure of how strong those edges hold up. In the case of the Saatva Classic, the edges remain in great shape. Upon testing, we ruled that they’re solid enough to allow people to rest near the edges without worrying too much about sinkage, sagging and falling off of the bed. This is due to a foam encasement that’s wrapped around the coil layers in the mattress. The sturdiness may vary depending on the firmness levels that are present in the Saatva. Couples for instance, will not feel too much sagging when they choose between the Firm or Luxe Firm choices, but might experience a bit of discomfort around the edges when using the Plush Soft. Also heavier people may feel more sinkage than light ones.
Sex
When you are with your spouse and are sexually active It is essential to choose an appropriate mattress that will respond effectively when sharing intimate moments. This is where the Saatva Classic comes in, offering a great combination of flexibility and responsiveness, which makes it suitable for a range of sexual activities. The top of the pillow conforms to the body when in contact with the surface and the innerspring foundation allows the bed to be buoyant enough to allow for movement however not so loud as for the annoying noise of squeaking. The solid edge support permits the couples to take full enjoyment of the entire area of Saatva. While this Plush Soft comfort level may provide average traction for sex but it did not feel as comfortable compared to its more firm counterparts.
Off-gassing
The Saatva Classic is made out of synthetic foam, but what sets it apart from others is how it doesn’t take up a lot of the mattress. This means it won’t smell as unpleasant upon delivery and purchase. We received our Saatva mattresses for testing, we noticed how, instead of the standard cardboard box people from the delivery company arrived to put the mattress for us. We also checked the way it released less of the typical ‘new mattress smell’ than other similar ones and it went away quickly – this may be due to the way it was built. Saatva Santorini Review
Mobility
It is the Saatva has been found to have a greater ease of movement compared to other hybrid mattresses due to the unique combination of innerspring and polyfoam used as its structural foundation. The bed is fixed against the physique of the user when they lay down on the surface, but regains its original shape quickly as soon as they leave it. To contrast, mattresses that have an upper layer of memory foam will conform to the body per usual, but the feeling of being ‘trapped in comfort is much more apparent, making it a bit difficult for the user to leave.

Noise
The innerspring beds have received some bad rap over the years due to their annoying sounds that get worse upon continuous use. Saatva Classic, however Saatva Classic, on the other hand, does not meet the criteria of this. We’ve already mentioned that the mattress’s core is a foam encasement that’s been wrapped around the coil systems. This not only offers solid support along the edges, but it also blocks out the sounds that coils normally make. When we tried out changing positions and moving around the mattress, we noticed that there was less noise, squeak and buzz were generated. However, since that the Saatva mattress is supported by coils, you shouldn’t expect the no-noise capability to last forever.
Durability
After we’ve had the chance to try out all the test of the performance with the Saatva Classic mattress, the only thing we have to think about is the following questions: “How durable is the Saatva? What is the length of time it will be expected to last?” Considering the high-grade quality of the materials and the structure and how well it is able to perform when it comes to comfort, relief and movement, the Saatva is expected to be sturdy enough to last approximately 7-10 years.
Materials
The Saatva Classic is composed of at the very least four layers, each with unique abilities. When they are put together, they form a strong, durable, bouncy, and overall solid hybrid mattress that is suitable for any use. Let’s have a closer look at all the components and layers that comprise the Saatva mattress.

The top is quilted with a specially-made Lumbar Zone Quilting design to provide the needed relief from pressure on the hips and back. Organic cotton is used to protect the pillow’s surface. It is not only breathable and soft, but it also comes with antibacterial qualities.
Layer 2: A Combination Foam for Enhanced Lumbar Support
Across all three firmness levels An inch-thick support foam is placed under the first layer to provide a better support for the lumbar region. This special foam is composed of: more than half of the mattress is composed of polyfoam. The remaining part is made from memory foam. It is strategically placed along the center of the mattress, which allows that the spine to more align, without producing any form of discomfort that might arise. Saatva Santorini Review

Layer 3 The Foam-encased Support Layer
The Saatva’s third layer is a support layer, and additionally, one of the two coils that comprise the mattress. This 4-inch-thick surface of individually foam-wrapped micro coils is responsive enough to conform to different body shapes and movements that change constantly. It also allows for breezy air circulation, which keeps the sleeper cooled and away from getting too hot.
Layer 4: The Sturdy Foundation Core
Each layer is held by the solid steel hourglass coils that are underneath the three layers. Customers get to choose between two different heights of a 4-inch layer to fit mattresses measuring 11.5″ or a 7-inch layer for 14.5″ beds.
